Thursday 26th of January
Marco Fusinato & Joe Talia
Toff In Town, 252 Swanston StreetDoors at 7:30
$10
Now based in Tokyo and quickly becoming an important part of its vibrant music scene, drummer and electronics performer Joe Talia (collaborator with Oren Ambarchi, Jim O'Rourke, Ned Collette, and countless local performers) returns to Melbourne for two sets at the Toff in Town. In a recently inaugurated duo alongside Marco Fusinato on guitar/distortion, Talia will perform on Revox reel-to-reel tape machine, sculpting a sonic mass that swings between electro-acoustic abstraction and psychedelic noise. He will also bring his unique touch on the drums to a set with Francis Plagne's band (also featuring Yuko Kono, Alex Garsden, Rohan Drape and Scott McConnachie), stretching the limits of the song form into unfamiliar shapes. Also featured will be a rare solo set from Crys Cole (Canada), who uses deceptively simple means to creates textural works that continuously re-tune the ear and delicately seek to both reveal and obscure the intricacy of seemingly mundane sounds and actions.
